Austin is the US epicenter for AI-enabled mobility providing a rich ecosystem of hardware, software, system integration and service providers. Waymo and Uber announced that they will make unsupervised robotaxi deployment widely available in the City of Austin in 2025.

The City of Austin has substantial experience in testing fully automated mobility fleets.

At the same time Austin is the cross section of major highways and has a dense fast growing urban community which is car-centric which comes with all known problems of traffic congestions in particular for commuters.
